Sandhurst Fire sees 'no movement' overnight, 10% contained

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) -- The Sandhurst Fire overlooking the Utah State Capitol near Ensign Peak continued to burn overnight but fire officials said they saw "no fire movement."

As of the latest update on Monday morning, July 22, the fire remains at 204 acres burned and is only 10% contained.

"Existing firelines continue to hold on the Sandhurst Fire," Utah Fire Info said in a social media post. "Just because active flames or smoke isn't visible doesn't mean there isn't still fire or heat. Help firefighters by staying away, avoid roads, and stay off trails near the fire area to avoid impacting suppression efforts."

The Sandhurst Fire broke out over the weekend and was visible from I-15 just above the capitol building. Officials quickly ordered a mandatory evacuation order for about 40 homes in the Dorchester area, threatened by the smoke and flames.
