Savannah Guthrie has been absent from her normal hosting role at Today since her mom, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing on February 1.
Given the circumstances, it was unclear whether the beloved host would ever return to her day job. However, sources told Rob Shuter on Monday, February 23, that Guthrie “will be back.”
“It’s going to be emotional. It’s going to be hard,” a source told Shuter for his Naughty but Nice Substack. “But she will be back. In her mom’s honor.”

While there is no timeline, and NBC is putting “absolutely no pressure” on Guthrie, another insider told Shuter, “Her mom sacrificed everything so Savannah could chase this career. Walking away now would feel like letting the darkness win.”
