Sioux Falls metro tops 300,000 expanding into MN

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- The Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) has for several years comprised South Dakota's Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner Counties, but according to the U.S. Census Bureau, that MSA has expanded.

The Sioux Falls MSA now stretches to the east, crossing the state line to encompass Rock County, Minnesota.

Tyler Tordsen, President and CEO of the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance (SMGA) spoke with KELOLAND on the significance of the change.

"We're headquartered in Sioux Falls, but serving four counties; Minnehaha, Lincoln, Turner and McCook," said Tordsen, "and maybe -- maybe cross over the border into Rock County."
