Some RTD lines sounding their horns as they work to resolve issue

ARVADA, Colo. (KDVR) — Years ago, when the RTD rail line was put in along Grandview Avenue in Olde Town Arvada, people living along that stretch of road had to get accustomed to the rumbling over the tracks and the dinging crossing guards.

For the most part, people said they have slowly adapted. But recently, residents started noticing train horns blaring more frequently at almost all hours of the night.

"It starts at 4:30 in the morning and goes until midnight," said Merlene Forbes, who has lived near the G Line rail for about eight years.

RTD police chief on leave, organization says no further comment

She said it seemed to start right after the tech outage that crippled much of the nation's transportation.

"It was right after the CrowdStrike IT problem, and it was — we didn’t receive any notification and then at 4:30 in the morning, it was like, what is going on?" Forbes said.
