South Dakotans at Republican National Convention

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- South Dakota Republican leaders attending the Republican National Convention tell us support for Donald Trump and his vice presidential pick, JD Vance of Ohio, is solid.

Dan Lederman is the past chair of the South Dakota Republican and is attending the event. He told KELOLAND News on the phone that the South Dakota delegation was excited to be there and happy with the choice of J.D. Vance as Donald Trump's vice presidential running mate. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is one of 3 South Dakota electors. He is also in Milwaukee and says the mood is upbeat.

"With the announcement of Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as the Republican Vice Presidential choice there is a lot of discussion and a feeling of unity after the events in Pennsylvania, certainly the Republicans are united and hopefully the country is united. It's a good feeling here at the Republican Convention," said Jackley.

Jackley says security is tight, but that is to be expected.
