Sports camp being held in honor of White Hall teen killed in 2023

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. – A foundation formed to honor a White Hall teen killed more than a year ago is working to inspire and help future athletes.

It has been over one year since White Hall High School senior Benjamen Redix was shot and killed. His mother Shaneisha Robinson said Redix loved sports and his family.

“He ran track, he did triple jump, he also played football, when he wasn't doing those type of things he was spending time with me and his siblings,” Robinson said.

To honor him and continue his goal of becoming a coach one day, his family started the Benjamen Redix Project.

“Our goal is to help student-athletes in Jefferson County and their family,” Robinson said.

They'll hold the first BRP camp free for kids, teaching them skills they'll use on and off the field.

Robinson said Redix spent every day reaching for his goals, gaining a full-ride track scholarship to Southern Arkansas University. The group hopes to continue what he started and pour into the youth of Jefferson County.
