St. Louis Dog Bar to celebrate record for longest barefoot hike

ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis Dog Bar is set to celebrate a man travelling across the country seeking to break the Guinness World Record for the longest barefoot hike.

Anton Nootenboom, also known as the Barefoot Dutchman, is a Dutch Army veteran who is traveling across 13 states in an effort to raise awareness for men's mental health.

After beginning his journey at Monica Beach in Los Angeles on February 17, Nootenboom is scheduled to break the record once he enters St. Louis on August 11.

In honor of the journey, Bar K is hosting an event that will give others the opportunity to be a part of history with Nootenboom.

Bar K is calling for interested participants to meet at Forest Park's Steinberg Skating Rink's Parking Lot at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 11, to walk the final two miles to break the Guinness World Record with Nootenboom and his dog, Oreo.

The walk will begin at 11 a.m., and the group will travel the remaining two miles to Bar K, where Nootenboom will officially break the Guinness World Record for the longest barefoot hike.
