State of Arkansas opens first safe haven for youth in crisis in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Young adults in the Natural State who are stuck in a vulnerable living crisis now have a place to go home to.

It's called The Station, and it's the first of its kind here in Arkansas. The building was created as a safe place for Arkansans between the ages of 18 and 24 who are experiencing homelessness and any other kinds of trauma.

It has everything one will need including a private bed and bathroom, a shared kitchen, therapy sessions and an outdoor area.

"As you walk through this building, as you look around, you're gonna see that we didn't skimp, we didn't cut corners, we didn't hold back. We didn't say resources are scarce, we didn't say that these people are only worth this much. We said ‘hey, we're gonna give them all that we have,’" Eric Gilmore, executive director of Immerse Arkansas stated.
