WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAJ) — The Biden administration announced Thursday the release of United States prisoners, however, Pennsylvania teacher Marc Fogel, was not one of them.
Americans Evan Gershkovich, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, Paul Whelan, a former Marine, Alsu Kurmasheva, a Russian-American journalist and U.S. citizen Vladimir Kara-Murza, a journalist, were released as part of one of the largest prisoner exchanges since the Cold War. The Americans were being held in Russia, where Fogel remains. The 24-person prisoner swap included the United States, Russia, Germany and three other Western countries.
U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) was very vocal about the fact that Fogel is among many prisoners who aren't returning home.
