WARREN COUNTY, N.J . (PIX11) -- Roger Mejia and family are going on vacation Down South. On Friday, they hit the road to Myrtle Beach and on the way will likely contend with the power of Tropical Storm Debby.
"It's going to be the rain, but I think we'll catch the tail end of it," said Mejia.
In Hackettstown, where his roofing company is based, it's an area of the Garden State that's in line to receive, maybe, some of Friday's heaviest Debby-related rain.
"You know, it causes leaks, and the phone really starts ringing at that time," said Mejia.
"My anxiety level is medium-high," said Joe Fisher, owner of Man Skirt Brewing, which sits in an old bank building in the middle of town. "The windows aren't what they used to be, we do get some water in the basement, so with the groundwater already high, we're going to have to be very vigilant."
Out across the Northwestern reaches of New Jersey, county offices of emergency management continue to keep an eye on the storm. The Governor's Office told PIX11 news they are "actively monitoring the storm and will impose all necessary precautions, including declaring a state of emergency, if conditions require it.”
