Students singing for Fredrich's ataxia cure

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Students from across Sioux Falls are getting together to raise money for a currently incurable disorder.

Toes are tapping and harmonies echo, as students prepare for their cabaret performance this weekend.

"We do a whole bunch of different type of musical numbers from different musical theater shows, and they're just one after another," leadership committee member Garvey Mueller said.

Fine Arts for Fredrich's Ataxia, also known as FA4FA, is a student led organization. They've been preparing for this performance for weeks.

"We have two wonderful choreographers and then the rest of us on leadership will direct some numbers that don't necessarily have as much as dancing. But yeah, so we learn all the music, all the, the hard harmonies and everything. And yeah, it's a full production," leadership committee member Lucas Schreck said.

The group gives 100% of the proceeds from their shows to Fredrich's Ataxia research. Its an effort that started after a student in the theater community was diagnosed with the disorder.
