Suspects fire shots at police during chase through Aurora, Denver

AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — Aurora police said several suspects, including minors, stole a car and opened fire on officers during a pursuit Thursday night.

Police responded to a report of a car stolen from a garage on East Mexico Avenue near Chambers Road at around 8 p.m. About an hour later, officers spotted the vehicle near 23rd Avenue and Dayton Street.

Officers began to follow the car when they said the suspects in the stolen vehicle fired several shots at police.

Aurora police said officers did not return fire and initiated a pursuit. Police said the pursuit went through Denver before ending in Aurora along East Montview Boulevard and Cathay Street when the stolen car got a flat tire.

After coming to a stop, police said several suspects abandoned the car and ran. However, police caught up and detained one adult and several minors at around 11:30 p.m.
