NEW YORK (PIX11) – Debby is steadily approaching the tri-state area Friday morning, expected to bring heavy rain and gusts.
A flood watch is in effect through Friday night for western portions of New Jersey. Expect 1 to 2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible.
A wind advisory is in effect starting at noon Friday until 11 p.m. Expect sustained winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph especially near coastal areas.
A high surf advisory is in effect for coastal areas from noon Friday until noon Saturday. We can expect large breaking waves of 4 to 10 feet as well as dangerous rip currents near all beaches.
We can expect the remnants of Debby to move to the west of the region throughout the day. We will see showers and thunderstorms Friday morning followed by stronger storms with the possibility of tornadoes later in the day.
