SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) -- A fire in Summit County on Sunday evening caused I-80 to close in both directions, and some drivers were encouraged to use I-84 as an alternate route, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
Traffic was affected in both directions on I-80 at mile marker 170 near Coalville. The fire first began affecting traffic just before 6:15 p.m., according to the UDOT Traffic website.
An alert on the UDOT website informed drivers about the closures in place on I-80 Sunday evening.
"WB I-80 is closed at the Echo Junction, due to a fire affecting the road," the advisory said. "Motorists traveling WB should use I-84 as an alternate at this time. Unknown estimate for clearance."
