MOORESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Bargersville Community Fire Department lieutenant was injured Monday morning when a tree branch struck the lieutenant in the chest through an open window of a firetruck.
The fire department says the incident happened at about 7:56 a.m. near the roundabout at State Road 144 and Kitchen Road. The crew was on their way back from the 6700 block of Centenary Road in Madison Township to assist with a water rescue.
As they were driving back to the district, they saw a fallen tree along the road. A branch extending into the path of the truck entered through the open officer-side window and struck the lieutenant in the chest.
Paramedics took the lieutenant to the hospital for treatment and he was reported to be in stable condition.
