Two officers shot on Indy’s west side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer was released from the hospital after being shot Friday afternoon. Another was last reported to be stable still in the hospital with a gunshot wound to a limb, according to IMPD Chief Tanya Terry.
IMPD said at about 2:30 Friday afternoon, IMPD SWAT officers served a narcotics warrant in the 300 block of North Flemming Street when a suspect believed to be on parole for dealing narcotics, fired at them, injuring two officers. Terry said the suspect opened fire as soon as the officers exited the armored vehicle.
The suspect then retreated into a home as officers returned fire.
