BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — After a 2-0 week with wins over Louisiana-Monroe and Eastern Michigan, IU women’s basketball senior guard Shay Ciezki was named the Big Ten Player of the Week and freshman forward Maya Makalusky was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
It’s the second Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Ciezki this season. She averaged 28 points per game in the two games, shooting 61.8% from the floor and 66.7% from three. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in the two games.
Ciezki had her third 30-plus point game of the season, scoring 31 against Louisiana-Monroe.
Makalusky made her first two starts of her career against Louisiana-Monroe and Eastern Michigan. She averaged 15.5 points per game while shooting 57.9% from the floor and 52.9% from three. She also averaged 5 rebounds per game.
Makalusky had her first 20-plus point game of her career as a Hoosier against Louisiana-Monroe, scoring 22 points and knocking down six three-pointers.
The Hoosiers (10-2) are back in action on Sunday at home against Western Carolina. It’s the last non-conference game on the schedule for IU.
