U.S. men's volleyball will play for bronze medal

The United States men's volleyball team will play for a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Team USA lost to Poland on Wednesday morning in five sets as the U.S. was unable to close out a match that they led two sets to one, eventually falling 25-23, 25-27, 25-14, 23-25, 15-13.

Kamehameha grad, setter Micah Christenson had 60 assists and seven digs for the U.S. as Former University of Hawaii middle blocker Taylor Averill posted five kills.

Punahou alum Erik Shoji added 10 digs as fellow former Buffanblu standout Micah Ma'a served twice.

Team USA will look to win its first medal since 2016 when they play for bronze against Italy on Friday at 4:00 am HST.

Poland, ranked No. 1 in the world in the FIVB world rankings, has not won a gold medal at the Olympics since 1976. They'll get that chance on Friday vs. defending Olympic champion France. The Olympics final is scheduled for 1:00 am HST on Saturday.
