LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Teaching students skills needed to protect against digital threats is the goal of a weeklong cybersecurity camp happening at UA Little rock this week.
Students at the camp are learning the C.I.A. of cybersecurity: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability.
Sandra Leitherman, director of Cybersecurity Education and Outreach, said kids are learning how to stay one step ahead of hackers and more through hands-on activities and challenges to test their knowledge.
“It's important, because we want to be able to teach them to keep their data and personal information secure while they're online, whether it be a social media platform, email or playing a game on their phones,” Leitherman stated.
Kids in grades 7 through 12 are also learning what careers in cybersecurity they can pursue in the future.
