LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – UAMS will be using mobile units to connect with women in rural areas of Arkansas.
Using four different mobile units for 14 different rural counties, UAMS officials said the aim is to prevent unintended pregnancy and improve access to women's healthcare in every part of Arkansas.
The units will provide multiple clinical services, from STI exams and cervical cancer screenings to a full range of contraceptives
"Contraceptive access is a real important part of public health," Mobile Health Programs Director Kelly Conroy said.
UAMS officials said the other goal of going on the road is to connect with local organizations and create long-term reproductive care access for women in those rural areas.
