SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) -- With school starting again, families taking last-minute vacations, and construction throughout the valley, the Utah Department of Transportation warns drivers there could be heavy delays on the state's highways.
UDOT spokesperson John Gleason specifically highlighted US-6 near Spanish Fork and several areas through Salt Lake City as potential problem areas.

Starting Friday night, Aug. 9, until the next morning on Saturday, 500 South in Salt Lake City will be closed. In a press release, Gleason noted this closure includes the freeway ramps to southbound I-15 and westbound I-80. The closure will begin at 11 p.m. and is expected to last til 8 a.m.
During the closures, Gleason said crews will be working to replace worn-out overhead signs.
Crews will also be working to install "tiger-tail" striping to sections of I-15 and I-215. This style of lane markings, where a black stripe immediately follows a white stripe, is wider and designed for high visibility and reflectivity, according to UDOT.
UDOT will be installing the new striping on eastbound I-80 in Parley's Canyon near Lamb's Canyon on Saturday, Aug. 10.
