Undocumented immigrants steal $275K luxury watch in Nassau County: police

GREENVALE, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Two men were arrested in connection to the theft of a luxury watch from a jewelry store in Greenvale on July 17, Nassau County police announced Monday.

The incident happened at 3:15 p.m. on July 17 at Loucri Jewelers located at 55 Northern Boulevard, officials said.

The two suspects, Petru Magdas, 49, and Petru Munteanu, 28, allegedly distracted the salesperson and stole a $275,325 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak custom diamond watch, police said.

They were located and apprehended on grand larceny charges on August 1. Police say the watch has been recovered.

Magdas was previously removed from the United States in 2017 and 2018, police said.

Munteanu was caught by the U.S. Border Patrol in December 2021 and processed as an expedited removal but has not been placed in removal proceedings yet, officials said.
