Unsheltered woman, 23, fatally shot in Chula Vista, police say

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities are investigating after a 23-year-old woman was fatally shot near C Street in Chula Vista Thursday night.

Officers with the Chula Vista Police Department were called to the 200 block of C Street just after 11 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers say they found woman with a gunshot wound who was bleeding heavily just off the road on C Street, west of the Woodland Hills Apartments. Officers began life-saving measures until medics arrived and took over, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

She is described by police as a 23-year-old woman, believed to be unsheltered and living in Chula Vista.
