INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Congressman Marlin Stutzman said rather than renewing Affordable Care Act subsidies, Congress should redirect any subsidies to options such as health savings accounts.

In an interview with News 8 for “All INdiana Politics,” Stutzman said the federal government’s subsidies under the 2010 law have led to record profits for insurers while driving up premiums. He said a quick fix could be to subsidize health savings accounts and then enact new price transparency laws.

“We need to eliminate overhead costs. We need to let the American consumer make the choice that’s best for their family rather than the insurance companies dictating what they can and can’t do,” he said.
