SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) -- Former Utah Attorney General candidate Frank Demcy Mylar was charged with a felony after allegedly offering a bribe in exchange for an endorsement during the race.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced the charge Wednesday, July 10, a day after the official county canvassing day. Mylar is facing one count of third-degree felony bribery in elections.
In April, Mylar allegedly texted Trent Christensen offering him a job at the Utah Attorney General's Office in exchange for an endorsement. He later texted him saying to disregard the text, however, Christensen reported it to law enforcement.
“We appreciate Mr. Christensen coming forward with the information about this alleged crime in a timely manner to law enforcement. We also appreciate the Murray Police Department for conducting a thorough investigation,” Gill said in a news release. “All persons accused of wrongdoing are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
