Wentzville man indicted for embezzling $11K from Dollar Tree

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A St. Charles County grand jury indicted a Wentzville man last week for embezzling more than $11,000 from his employer.

According to the Wentzville Police Department’s probable cause statement, the crime took place between Oct. 23, 2023, and Nov. 10, 2023, at a local Dollar Tree store.

Police said Markell Wright (age not provided) would activate a store gift card using his employee credentials and then keep the card for his own use. He did this approximately 124 times, police said.

When the store's loss prevention team questioned Wright, according to investigators, he admitted to the crime. Wright told police he was bringing money home to help his parents.

The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Wright with stealing – $750 or more. Wright will be arraigned on September 11.
