Woman fatally injured in single-vehicle crash on East 42nd Street

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash on the city’s northeast side Friday night, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

At 9:39 p.m. Friday, IMPD East District officers responded to a report of a personal injury crash in the 6700 block of East 42nd Street. Officers arrived and located a single-vehicle accident. The vehicle left the roadway, and struck a utility pole and a tree. The driver of the vehicle, a woman, was transported by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services medics to an area hospital in critical condition.

IMPD detectives were later notified that the woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The IMPD fatal crash investigation team will investigate this incident. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the manner and cause of death.
