Woman plagued by downed trees from neighboring lot

PAGEDALE, Mo. - A Pagedale woman living in public housing has been trying to get a downed tree cleared from her home for nearly a week after it fell from a neighboring vacant lot.

"Let me show you what's going on," Shanta Nettles said as she showed Fox 2 News around her home.

She takes pride in keeping a nice yard. But it is a tall task when surrounded by trees on neighboring properties.

"This is the fourth time that a tree fell in my yard—four times," she said.

This past Friday, a tree from the neighboring yard fell on her shed. The lot next door is vacant, so Nettles said she called the area Housing Authority to help clean it up, but she did not know how long that would take.

"Please just come out. We can come together as a unit and we can do it all together," Nettles pleaded.

On Thursday, FOX 2 helped Nettles follow up with the housing authority. After we called, they sent a team out that afternoon to assess the downed tree. But it was still unclear who was responsible for the vacant lot next door. So, FOX 2 pulled property records and found that the land is owned by a non-profit called Beyond Housing.
