Yorktown Public Library devastated by flooding, vows to rebuild

YORKTOWN, Ind. — The Yorktown Public Library is recovering after devastating floods left water knee-deep inside the building.

The library shared a heartfelt message on Facebook Friday, calling the damage “nothing short of devastating” and saying staff were left “feeling a little heartbroken” after seeing the building’s condition.

Thankfully, water had receded by Friday morning. The library is now working with a water mitigation company to assess the damage and develop a recovery plan.

Despite the setback, the library promised the community it will be back.
