Gov. Braun appoints 3 judges, filling vacancies in Howard, Tippecanoe counties

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana Gov. Mike Braun announced that he appointed three judges to fill court vacancies in central Indiana.

“These appointments reflect a strong commitment to experience, fairness, and the rule of law,” the Republican govneror said in a release issued Tuesday. “Each appointee brings a deep understanding of the courtroom and a clear dedication to public service, and I am confident they will serve their communities with integrity.”

Braun appointed Kevin McDaniel to Tippecanoe Superior Court 1. He has tried approximately 70 jury trials during his 15 years as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Tippecanoe and Vanderburgh Counties. McDaniel graduated from Purdue University as an undergraduate and earned his law degree at Valparaiso University.

Also in Tippecanoe County, Elliott McKinnis was appointed to a part-time role on the West Lafayette City Court. He is currently a senior attorney at Cook Research Inc. in West Lafayette and will continue working at the company. Previously, he worked in both the county’s Prosecutor’s and Public Defender’s Offices. McKinnis received his bachelor’s degree from Ball State and went to law school at IU’s McKinney School.
