Firefighters from multiple stations extinguished a backyard fire and prevented it from spreading, officials said

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A residential fire behind a home in Jackson Township was quickly contained after multiple fire units responded to reports of smoke and flames in the Brookwood 4 development.

Jackson Fire District No. 3 confirmed that Station 55 was initially dispatched for an outdoor smoke investigation, before Ocean County Sheriff 911 received additional calls reporting visible flames, prompting an upgraded response.
