INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The peak months for tornadoes in Indiana are April to June.

However, tornadoes can happen at any time of year, including February.

Tornado data has been kept since 1950. It should be pointed out that with improvements in phone, video and radar technology, weaker tornadoes have been easier to confirm since the 1990s.

From 1950 to 2023, Indiana had 38 tornadoes in February. During winter months, Indiana can still get severe weather events that produce tornadoes.
