INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After an eight-hour hearing on Thursday, a Jasper County physician was stripped of his license after “facilitating” an illegal abortion, having sexual contact with patients and more.
Attorney General Todd Rokita described in a release Tuesday that his team argued for the repeal before the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana.
The Indiana Attorney Generals’ Office says physician Dr. Patrick Sheets of Rensselaer, Indiana, performed an illegal abortion for a patient who he previously had sexual relations with. Sheets also prescribed controlled substances to the patient, despite her history of addiction.
The release did not specify when the incident occurred.
The office says they received multiple complaints that prompted an investigation that started sometime after July 2024. Sheets was accused of prescribing habits with controlled substances, such as alprazolam (Xanax), to a patient with known substance abuse issues without proper evaluations, improperly securing a controlled substance key fob, and falsifying medical records.
