SHADELAND, Ind. (WISH) — A driver has been arrested after fleeing a traffic stop that turned into a multicounty police chase on Friday night.

Indiana State Police said in a Monday news release that investigators believe Zander Wilson, 19, of Williamsport, took off when a state trooper tried to pull him over for a traffic violation on State Road 25 near Tippecanoe County Road 275 South, just southwest of the city of Lafayette and northeast of the town of Shadeland.

Police say Wilson lead the trooper through Tippecanoe and Fountain counties.

They say the chase ended when Wilson crashed into snow in Warren County, at the intersection of County Road 1000 East and County Road 450 North in rural Otterbein.

Wilson was taken safely into custody.

He faces multiple preliminary charges, including resisting and driving under the influence, state police said. His case was filed Monday in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 without charges, online records showed Monday night.
