INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A pedestrian was hit and killed near an intersection on the city’s northeast side Saturday, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, IMPD East District officers responded to the intersection of North Shadeland Avenue and Pendleton Pike on a report of a pedestrian struck. That intersection is just west of I-465 near Lawrence, Indiana.

Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services medics arrived and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

IMPD-certified accident investigators responded to the scene to investigate further. Shadeland Avenue northbound and southbound near Pendleton Pike will be closed while the investigation is active.
