ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — An Anderson man was convicted Thursday of multiple felony charges, including the unlawful possession of firearms by a serious violent felon.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Andrew Hanna said in a news release that a Madison County circuit court jury found Jeramie Murdock, 53, guilty following a two-day trial.
The jury convicted Murdock on two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia. Murdock also admitted to being a habitual offender. Murdock faces a maximum sentence of 44 years in prison from Judge Angela Warner Sims during his sentencing on March 23.
The case originated from a June 1, 2022, investigation at a property on Mounds Road. Sgt. Gordon Corner of the Anderson Police Department was assisting with a standby call when he noticed a large black enclosed trailer. Corner suspected the trailer might be stolen based on a previous investigation at the same location.
A resident of the area told investigators that Murdock owned the trailer, and that Murdock was living in a camper at the back of the property. Dispatchers confirmed Murdock had active arrest warrants for dealing methamphetamine and cheating at gaming.
