Starke County man arrested for assaulting wife, abducting 2-year-old son

KNOX, Ind. (WISH) — A 44-year-old man from Starke County was arrested Friday for assaulting his wife and abducting their 2-year-old son, according to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, the Starke County Sheriff’s Office responded to Northwest Starke Emergency Room in Knox, Indiana, regarding a woman who reported that she had been confined and assaulted by her husband, Dwayne Clemons, 44, of North Judson, Indiana. The woman stated that after the assault, Clemons dropped her off at the hospital and fled the area with their 2-year-old son, Saxon, who was also present in the vehicle during the incident.

The woman informed officers that Clemons was armed with a .45 caliber pistol and had threatened her with the firearm. Detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office requested a search warrant, which was executed by the Starke County Sheriff’s Office Strategic Response Team. Neither Clemons nor the child were located at that time. Evidence was discovered, which supported the claim that Clemons was armed.
