“Golden Girls” cosplay and drag queens
Thursday. Their AARP membership aside, the ladies of “Golden Girls” have had a Gen-X (and on down) revival in recent years as the cast’s comedic brilliance and the show’s unique premise have stood the test of time. But isn’t cosplay just for sci-fi nerds?
Nope. A “Golden Girls”-themed costume party is taking place, appropriately, at Grandma’s House craft brewery on Thursday, March 28, organized by the University of Colorado Denver assistant film prof Andy Scahill, who created the LGBTQ-themed Rainbow Cult movie series. Drag queens will play Blanche, Dorothy, Sophia and Rose, while the back patio will offer more than 20 vendors with homespun crafts and themed merchandise “for the Golden Girls fan in your life!” organizers wrote.
